Waiuku.
An old and much respected resident of Kohe Koho, Mr Samuel Dickey, passed away on May 21st, at the age of 65 years. He was one of the sturdy band of hard-working settlers, and having reared his familv well, was about to take a rest and retire to a new home which he had recently built. Heart trouble so 1 n, and after a brief illness death supervened. The funeral took place at the Kohe Kohe cemetery, where tho service was conducted by the Rev Rub&rt Barr. A Jarge gathering of settlers attended. Deceased leaves a widow and sons and daughters. A meeting of Church people (Rev Vaughan presiding), was held in the Public Hall on Friday evening to consider the matter of providing means to supplement the amount already in hand towards building the Parish Hall. After discussion it was resolved to canvass for subscriptions amongst the Church families. The sum of £36 was subscribed in the room, and it was confidently hoped that the canvass would result in a large sum being collected.
