“BUY LOCALLY”
COUNTY CHAIRMAN’S ADVICE During the morning tea interval, the chairman of the Matamata County Council remarked on the difficulty he had had in Auckland in purchasing a small present authorised by the council. The engineer gave his experience of some years ago when buying furniture. He had “worn his feet to the ankles going from shop to shop,” and Jiad then gone back to the first shop and made his purchase. A member: That’s the advantage we get in the country of having one local store. Another member: It is the motor car which started the buying in the city. A third member: Very frequently one can buy just as cheaply in the country. The chairman: Lots of things can be bought just as well in local shops as in the city, and I think it is up to all of us to buy all we can locally.
