TAKAPUNA GUP MEETING The A.R.C. will conduct the old Takapuna club’s two day’s mid-sum-mer meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday. Two non-totalisator races have apparently eliminated the necessity for divisions, so that fields should suit patrons better than is usual. Altogether there will be 10 races, on the first two of which the “tote” will not open. This is a hack fixture, with many of the horses having few credentials, so that betting may be somewhat difficult. The doubles totalisator will operate. Fields for the respective races are well filled, but only one division race has been provided for. Mr Reg Russell secured a Massowa—My Ship bay colt at guineas, and Mr R. E. Allen a brown colt by Defaulter—Victorious at 190 guineas. My Ship is a 13-year-old mare by Iliad from Princess Argosy. Victorious is a six-year-old mare by Nightmarch—Hinerawe (Robespierre from the good race mare Oratrix, from Oratress). This youngster is bred to stay and might turn out a real bargain.
