MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the executive of the Putaruru branch of the Returned Services’ Association was held last week. Those present were Messrs. P. D. Morrison (president), H. L. Martin, W. Inman, P. L. Thompson, S. Domett, C. Thompson, W. McCaw, F. Flavall, F. Rose, F. W. Peters, J. Howland, Puck, and the secretary, Mr. V. L. Drummond. Apologies were received from Messrs. R. Pratt, L. AddSnbrooke, N. Hunt and J. R. O. Lochhead, and leave of absence was granted them. Member Welcomed t The president extended: a warm welcome to Mr. S. Domett, who was attending his first meeting, since the election, owing to the fact that he had only recently came out of hospital. ’ Women’s Section Letters indicating interest in connection with the proposed women’s section, of the branch were received from the Putaruru branches of the Women’s Institute and Women’s Division. 1 ‘ ..1.•It was decided to hqld a special mooting .in connection' with this matter, in the near future, on a date suitable to all bodies interested. The arrangements were left to the secretary. Publicity Booklet The Putaruru Chamber of Commerce advised that a, special meet ing to discuss the publishing of a brochure relating to the progress of Putaruru town and district was to be held on Thursday, June .24, and an invitation was extended to the president and members- to be present ■ Donation A further donation, the proceeds of stalls at sales at Tokoroa, was received from Mrs. J. Campbell. A letter of appreciation is to bo sent to Mrs. Campbell. Transfers Ong transfer out and five transfers in were approved. Honours Board The secretary' reported: that the Town Board intended having the honours board completed, and suggested that the names should be listed in alphabetical order. However, it desired to have the association’s views on the matter. After brief discussion it was agreed that the names should 1 be listed in alphabetical order, and that a suitable notation should bo placed beside the names of those who had not returned. Annual Conference The president reported on tht annual conference! held in Wellington recently, and l briefly reviewed many of the subjects that had been discussed. R.S.A. Ball Mr. J. Howland reported that an R.S.A. ball had been arranged to be held in the near future, by the jsocial committee of the association. 'He gave full particulars of the function and was assured of members’ support.
