BASKETBALL
PUTARURU TEAMS The two representative teams that travelled to Cambridge last Saturday had a most enjoyable day. Their standard of play has greatly improved, and it is with pleasure that members look forward to meeting Matamata teams on Saturday. Putaruru A stayed in the A section and met Waipa A, with whom they had a draw, 10—10; Te Ivuiti A defeated Putaruru, 19—11; and a very close game was played with Iluntly A, their superiority in goaling giving them a win by 16—32. The B representative team did very well, being narrowly defeated in two games and winning their other quite comfortably. On Saturday the A representative team, which will be the one to travel to Rotorua to compete iu the toux'nament on stli and 6th September, will play Matamata B and O teams. The Putaruru team is as follows :—- •Centres: J. Clothier and D- Jones (Putaruru), B. Reid (Tokoroa). Coalers: N. Murray (School), I'. Perrin and Mrs. Rusbatch (Tokoroa). Defence: I. Jones and S. Lopdell _(Putaruru), J. Eusoll (School). Emergencies for this team for Rotorua will he selected on Saturday. The B representative team, which will play Matamata 13 on Saturday, is as follows: Coalers: D. Ashworth, E. Coles, E. Savage. Centres: A. Ellis, 1). Bent, Mrs. Brunton. Defence; E. Drummond, X. Maxwell, O. Ericson. Emergencies; M. McAlister, M. Sissons. The games against Matamata will commence at 30 a.m. Club games, commencing at 1.45 pin., will he held in the afternoon, and several teams will travel to Tokoroa. Captains will he notified.
