MR. P. LAWRIE Social Function At Te Aroha Members of the Btaff of the Thames Valley Power Board to the number of 50 assembled in- Te Aroha recently to pay tribute to Mr. P. Lawrie, overseer, who has retired after 26 years of service with the board. Mr. R. Sprague (manager) presided, and also present were Messrs Mayn and Webb, members of the board. Employees were present from as far afield as Putaiuru, Matamata, Morrinsville, Waihi, Paeroa and Ngatea, testifying to the great esteem with which the guest of the evening was- regarded. Representatives of electrical contractors were also present. In testifying to the worth of Mr. Lawrie, Mr. Sprague emphasised the loyal and faithful nature of Mr. Lawrie’s service, and trusted that he and Mrs. Lawrie would long be spared to enjoy their retirement. Mr. Sprague then- presented Mr. Lawrie with a well-filled wallet from his fellow members on the staff. Mr. Lawrie suitably replied. Later in the week, Mr. Lawrie was the guest at a social evening given by members of the staff in Matamata, in which centre he had resided for so many years.
