A call from Morrlnsville was handed to the Rev. R. J. Currie, of Birkenhead, at a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery this week. This was the first call for the minister, who was recently raised from the status of home missionary. Arrangements for the induction will be made by the Morrinsville Presbytery.

The section on the corner of Main and Princes Streets which for so long has been an eyesore to passers-by is being developed by the Putaruru Town Board as a small reserve. The unsightly blackberry and undergrowth lias been cleared, the hollow filled and levelled, and the area is to be grassed at a later date. Already the corner looks so much better and later when fully developed will together with the attractive “Garden of Memories ” opposite prove an asset to the town.

Inquiries will be made by the Thames Valley Electric Power Board to see if some means of warning can be given at times of power shutdowns at night so that opportunity can be given to turn off all switches. The suggested method is to turn the power back on again for a few seconds after the time of the shutdown. That extra time would allow all switches to be checked, as in many cases it is not possible to tell whether they are on or off. That information was given by Mr. N. G.
