MORRINSVILLE.

Prices for Show Fat Cattle Fat Lambs in Demand At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s fortnightly Morrinsville sale on Friday a full yarding of good quality cattle, mostly cows and heifers, was penned. The demand was again keen and prices remained firm. A full entry of second quality cow beef also came forward; these showed no alteration.

A few pens of cattle that had been exhibited at the Morrinsville A. and P. Show were sold by Kereone Ltd., Thomas Bros, and Charles Cameron, and keenly sought after, and ”'cre purchased by Messrs. W. Timmins, W. H. Alley, Dendy and Wilkins and M. Davidson.

The entry of store cattle comprised mostly steers, with a few pens of female cattle. Competition for fresh-conditioned cattle with quality was good, but poorer sorts were not so keenly sought after.

There was again a large entry of all classes of sheep with a bigger proportion of fat sheep than usual. Competition for prime ewes and wethers remained keen and late rates were fully maintained. A large entry of fat lambs met with spirited bidding from the export buyers and prices realised were in advance of export rates.

There was a large yarding of store lambs, and prices throughout showed an improvement on recent sales.

Owing to the non-arrival of the East Coast and Tokomaru Bay sheep there were only about 6000 breeding ewes submitted to auction. A large and representative bench of buyers was present, and competition throughout the sale was remarkably keen. Good lines of ewes from the East Coast and North Auckland were keenly bidded for, and the recent increase in values was fully sustained, and the whole of the sheep yarding changed hands.

Fat pigs were penned in good numbers and sold under good competition at prices quoted at Frankton sale. A heavy yarding of store and weaner pigs was penned, which sold under brisk competition resulting in a total clearance. Beef Cattle.— Prime show bullocks, £8 10s to £9 12s.
