TIRAU. Large Yarding of Dairy Cattle. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s usual stock sale at Tirau was held on Thursday. Pigs were yarded in smaller numbers than usual and were sold under keen competition. The yarding of sheep consisted mainly of hoggets, and these found a ready sale. There was only a medium yarding of fat cattle, and these showed no alteration. A good yarding of store cattle was sold under good competition at late rates.

An extra-heavy entry of dairy 'cattle was penned, comprising mostly springing heifers. Choice quality were keenly sought.

Pigs.— Stores, 21s to 235. Best weaners, 16s to 17s 6d. Smaller, 13s to 14s. Sheep.— Fat hoggets, 16s to 17s. Forward-conditioned hoggets, 13s to 14s. Store hoggets, 10s 7d. FRANKTON. Rise in Cow and Heifer Beef. There was a small yarding of fat sheep at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, wethers selling under keen competition at advanced rates. An average supply of hoggets was sold readily at increased quotations. Spring lambs remained unchanged in price. Ox beef was in smaller supply, but there was little change in values. Toward the end of the sale medium-weight steers showed a firming tendency. Values for cow and heifer beef showed an appreciable rise. A truck of Polled Angus cows and heifers were sold at up to £5 14s, and averaged £5 9s Bd. There was a fairly-heavy yarding of fat pigs, and last week’s improved values were fully maintained. MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co. held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday when an extra large number of store pigs with a few porkers practically all changed hands at ruling prices. A good entry of fat, store and dairy cattle was yarded, the whole yarding selling at up to late quotations, dairy cattle showing a firming tendency. Cattle.— Fat cows, £3 5s to £4. Lighter fat cows, £2 to £2 12s 6d. Forward-conditioned cows, 30s to £2.. Boner cows, 14s to 295. Three-year Jersey-cross steers, £2 9s. Yearling Jersey-cross steers, 10s.
