There are only 6000 members of flying clubs in England, out of a population of 40,000,000. During the quarter ended March 31 organisers of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union enrolled 862 members, and of this number 674 were new members. The membership of the union is now higher than it was this time last year or the year before.
Rabbits are spreading in an alarming manner in parts of the Waikato district, according to a party of New Plymouth sportsmen who have returned from a four days’ shooting expendition in the Kiwitahi district. They said without hesitation that rabbits were three times as plentiful now as when they were there twelve months ago. Four New Plymouth sportsmen secured 457 rabbits in four days.
