FRANKTON. A small entry of fat sheep at Frankton on Tuesday consisted chiefly of ewes, for which competition was not keen. Prices in this section were lower. Fat lambs were sold at late rates, with the exception of prime heavy lambs, which showed an improvement. A medium. yarding of fat cattle was sold at equal to last week’s rates, while a fair entry of store cattle maintained recent rates. There was an average yarding of pigs, many being of medium quality. MATAMATA. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when another extra heavy yarding of all classes of pigs came forward. Prime baconers met with keen competition, and prices improved on last sale, v being 'well up to Frankton rates. Porkers were slightly easier than last sale, but were also equal to other sale quotations. A large yarding of stores and weaners met with good competition, the whole yarding changing hands at satisfactory prices. A good yarding of sheep, consisting mainly of store lambs, met with good demand and prices were on a par with other sales. A medium yarding of cattle maintained recent quotations. Cattle.— Medium fat cows, £3 to £3 17 s. Light fat cows, £2 to £2 15s. Killable cows, £1 11s to £1 19s. Fresh store cows,- £1 4s to £1 14s. Boners, 10s to £1 2s 6d. Heavy potter bulls, £4 to £5 ss.
