The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated February 24, advising that the following were the approximate average prices realised for the week:—

New Zealand Sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes: 481 b to 561 b 43d, 571 b to 641 b 43d, 651 b to 721 b 43d, North Island crossbred wethers and maiden ewes: 481 b to 561 b 4Jd, 571 b to 641 b 43d, 651 b to 721 b 4id. Ewes: 481 b and under 33d, 481 b to 641 b 3d, 651 b to 721 b 2gd. New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury: 361 b and under —, 371 b to 421 b —, 431 bto 501 b —; second quality, average 301 b, 43d. Other South Island brands: 361 b and under —, 371 bto 421 b sd. Selected North Island brands: 361 b and under 58d, 371 b to 421 b sd, 431 bto 501 b 43d ; second quality, average 301 b, sd. Other North Island brands: First quality, 361 b and under 53d, 371 b to 421 b 43d; second quality, average 301 b, 41d. New Zealand Beef.—Ox fores 3d, ox hinds 31d. New Zealand Prime Porker Pigs.— 601 b to 801 b 5 id, 811 b to 1001 b sd, 1011 b to 1201 b 4id.

New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—l2olb to 1601 b, 4id.

Lamb Market.—Prices are easier. Consumption is increasing owing to lower prices, but was temporarily checked during this week owing to cold weather. Arrivals from all sources are in excess of present requirements and are depressing the market.

Mutton. Wethers : Short spot stocks are keeping prices firm, but heavyweight Australian lambs are becoming strong competitors. Ewes: The market is quiet and unchanged. N.Z. Beef.—The market is quiet but steady. N.Z. Porker Pigs. Prices are easier owing to heavier supplies of Home-killed.
