FOOTBALL.

ANNUAL MEETINGS. Arapuni. The annual meeting of the Arapuni Football Club was attended by a fair number of members and intending members. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. A. Dinnie; president, Mr W. Kirby; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. Kabone, E. Hjorth, H. Geddes, J. Peterson, A. Baird and T. Spear; hon. s< fretary and treasurer, Mr. E. R. McCarthy; management committee, Messrs. S. M. Rapson, H. Bethel, N. J. McNeil, R. Bourke and G. Dawson; delegates to Putaruru Rugby Union, Messrs. E. R. McCarthy, G. Dawson and N. J. McNeil; sole selectors (seniors), Mr. R. Bourke; juniors, to be selected. A vote of thanks to the outgoing secretary, Mr. N. J. McNeil, was carried with acclamation. Though the club has lost a lot of its best players of last season, McDonald is still- available, and it is expected that solid teams will be fielded in both grades.

Putaruru. The annual meeting of the Putaruru Football Club was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Monday, when there was an attendance of twentythree. Most of these, however, were junior members, but nevertheless the utmost enthusiasm was shown, and it was decided to nominate a senior and junior team for the coming season. Mr. A. C. Thompson was elected to the chair, and the minutes of the previous annual meeting were confirmed without comment. The statement submitted by the treasurer (Mr. Geo. Brown) showed a balance in hand of 19s 3d. Receipts included £5 subscriptions, and £3 13s 6d in donations, total amounting to £9 15s Bd. On the expenditure side were: Affiliation fees, £3 3s; fines and gear, £1 12s 6d; rent, 12s; travelling expenses, £3 2s 6d.

Comment was made on an amount of £2 2s 6d which was outstanding in connection with travelling expenses for juniors, and also a sum of £2 10s for members’ subscriptions for both teams.

No resolution was passed, and on the motion of Messrs. C. D. Brown and Graham the financial statement was adopted.

The election of officers for the coming season resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. A. G. Leggatt; president, Mr. W. Yandle; vice-presidents (after a ballott), Messrs. A. E. Barr Brown, F. C. Barnett, H. Johnston, A. W. Swap and A. C. Thompson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. Geo. Brown; management committee (after a ballot), Messrs. C. D. Brown, A. C. Thompson, L. White and W. Rossiter; club captain, Mr. J. G. Gasparich; delegates to union, Messrs. J. W. Barr Brown, A. C. Thompson and G. G. Griffiths; sole selector, Mr. A. C. Thompson; hon. auditor, Mr. H. C. Wheeler. It was decided that the 'membership fee be ss, the same as last year. After some discussion it was decided to leave the matter of the opening match to the management committee. The following new members were elected to the club: Messrs. Ensor, J. N. R. Johnston, Heavey, J. Williams, R. Rolfe, Keenon, Barnes, Lush, Dewes, Scholz, Armstrong, Collins, Dunstan, Jeune, Mason, H. Berg and J. Benton. PUTARURU V. LICHFIELD. The above teams played a return match last week-end and this time Lichfield won in more decisive fashion by 13 points to 3. A great improvement in general play was shown by both teams and several juniors showed exceptional form. For Lichfield tries were scored by Wilson, Ingle and Johnston, two being converted by Ingle and Voice. For Putaruru C. Brown kicked a penalty goal.

The game was played at Lichfield, and the visitors were hospitably entertained by ladies of the district. During the game McDonald, of Tokoroa, had the misfortune to fall heavily and break his collarbone.
