DEATH OF MRS MURPHY OF WOODVILLE.

It is with extreme regret that we have to chronicle the death of Mrs Murphy, wife of tho well-known proprietor of the Club Hotel, Woodville. The deceased lady passed away at four o’clock this morning, after a long and painful illness ; and her husband was also so unwell at the time of his wife’s death that he was unable to be present at her bedside. The news of Mrs Muiphy’s death will be read with regret throughout the whole of the bush districts for her works of charity and benevolence were legion. One of the the pioneer settlers of Woodville, to which place she came with her husband to settle in 1874, few people were better known to the travelling public aud perhaps none better liked. No appeal for assistance or aid of any description was ever ignored by this lady, and her place in charitabe works will be hard to fill, and we are sure great sympathy will be felt for Mr Murphy in his affliction. The poorer classes and those who at times have required the assistance of the kindly and charitable in the Woodville district, have during the past twelve months last their two best friends in Mrs Murphy and Mrs W. W. Carlile, and their loss will, we fear, be most severely felt by many.
