KAITAWA.
(From our own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Kaitawa School Committee was held on Saturday night, to consider the school site question and other matters. Prosent—Messrs J. M. Miller (chairman), G. Whitcombs, Boss, Fulcher, Aitcheson, and Milne. The teacher reported that out of 42 on the roll only 82 had attended during the month, owing to the prevalence ot la grippe. I lie question of the school site was then considered, and after a great deal of discussion the Chairman put the two sites to the voto, when Messrs Ross, Milne, and Aitcheson voted for the town, and Messrs Fulcher, Whitoombe, and George for the bush site. The Chairman did not give his deliberative vote, as he should have done, hut eventually gave his casting vote in favor of the town sito. I would like to point out to the Chairman that when a division is taken ho must vote as an ordinary member of the Committee; it is only when an even number is present that the Chairman's casting vote is required, and even then his deliberative vote would have to be given first. Mr Fulcher threatened to resign. I must not forget to mention that Messrs Brown and Fraser, members of the Education Board, visitod us on Thursday to inspect and report on the sites. They were informed that the Committee did not meet till the 21»t, after which all information would be forwarded to tho Board. It is now thought probable that the site recommended by the Comrnittee will be chosen.
