HAVELOCK TOWN BOARD.
* SECOND BY-ELECTION,
Three candidates have been nominated to contest the second vacant seat on the Havelock Town Board, caused by the retirement of Mr W. H. Orsman, viz., Messrs E. A. Dance, Arthur Eeade, and Alfred Henry Scott. The election will take place at the Town Board office on Monday next, and the polling-booth will be open between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Mr Dance is well and popularly known to the majority of the ratepayers, and has always taken a keen interest in local affairs. He has filled the position of secretary of the local school committee for some time with credit to himself and satisfaction to the committee. He should prove a live member of the Town Board.
Mr Eeade, who is not down-hearted as the result of his defeat at the previous by-election, again solicits the support of the ratepayers, who are by this time familiar with his views on the lighting question and other matters. Mr Eeade has the interests of the town at heart, and therefore can be relied upon, if elected, to support all matters that come before the Board that spell progress. He is not likely to commit the ratepayers to any scheme that cannot be easily financed. Mr Scott is a man who has practically spent all his life in Havelock, and therefore knows the requirements of the town. Ho has studied the water supply question more than the average man, and his knowledge should prove useful as a member Of the Board when the matter of tapping the supply for electric light comes up for final decision.
