CANVASTOWN

(From our own Correspondent). The weather seems at-last to have become more settled and gives promise of a good day for the Pelorus \ Hack Racing Club’s meeting on ■New Year’s Day. On Christmas Day at St. Mark’s (Methodist) Church, Oanvaatown, Mr Aker presented the organist, Miss Mildred Stratford, with a beautiful bible prayer and hymn boot, suitably inscribed, as a token of recognition of her valuable services to the church in many ways.

Quite a gloom was cast over the Wakamarina when the news of the death of Mrs Harry Eaves, a recent resident of the district, reached here on Boxing night. Mr Alfred Rutland who was severely injured at Onamakorc on 23th October, was sufficiently recovered to bicycle down to his father’s farm for Christmas.
