Miss W. McCauley, Bulwer, is returning to Wellington with Miss Norling, for a short holiday. Mr T. D. Taylor, formerly, editor of the Guardian) Havelock, has been appointed editor of the Ashburton Guardian. Mr A. W. Barnett, who has held the position of secretary to the Picton Road Board for over 25 years, is about to retire from the position owing to bis increasing deafness. In a letter to the Pelorus Road Board this week Mr Barnett paid a pleasing tribute to Mr W. K. Matthews (secretary of the Pelorus Road Board) and referred to the courteous manner in which he invariably conducted the correspondence between the two Boards during their term of acquaintance. The, Board passed a resolution expressing regret at: the cause of Mr Barnett’s retirement, and that the members had appreciated the courtesy always- received from him.. Mr A. J. Maclaine, of Blenheim, succeeds Mr Barnett.
