THE TERRITORIALS The Carluke Territorials \nd Senior Cadets continued the annual musketry cour.-e on the miniature range at Carluke on Saturday Ias r , firing put 2. The weather conditions were most unfavourable, h avy rain falling at intervals throughout the day. The shooting was very good under the circumstances, especially the snap-shoot-ing practices. A party of Carluke ladies kindly provided afternoo i tea on the range, and at the conclusion, Sergeant-Major Reid, in behalf ( f the men, thanked the ladies for their kindness, the men giving three hearty cheers. The shooting c .arse will be concluded on March Bth, when part 3 standard test will be fired. The following were the principal scorers :

CANVASTOWN RIFLE CLUB The Canvastown Riff; Club held the final shoot for a gold medal and pair of spurs on Saturday, J. Rutland won the medal, and G. Murray the spurs. The conditions were two competitions at 200yds and 800yds and three at 500yds and 600yds, two scores at the long ranges and one at the short to c Hint.

Cain 2 120 THE TRENTHAM MEETING Trentham, March 1. Shooting was continued this morning in fine weather, wish a strong, steady left rear breeze. The Standard Test Match, as authorised under the regulations for the musketry course, and the Vanishing Match (200 yaids), seven shots, were taken simultaneously. The former match includes grouping, snap shooting, application, and rapid firing (100, 200, 500, and 200 yards respectively). So far the top scorers are Soptr (Tua Marina) and Roots (Patea), 79 out of a possible 85, Loveday (Ohura) 78, Montgomery (Dunedin) 77. The match will net be completed to-day.

MARLBOROUGH PRIZEWINNERS Thursday, which was the opening day of the Trentham rifle shooting meeting, was devoted to individual service matches, and from a competitors’ point of view was practically an “ off ” day on the range. In the Rapid-Shooting Ma'ch, which was won by J. Yeo, Auckland, with 84, Lieutenant H. Mclntosh, Beddon, 28 woo £l, W. N. Masefield Bounds, 26 wan 10s. The' Loophole Cover Match was won by Rifleman D. Roots (Patea) with 86. The Marlborough prizewinners were as follows: B. J. Cooke ami W./N. Masefield 80 each, 20s; Quartermaster-Sergeant Denton and F. Kowe, 28 each, 15s 9d ; E. Wells (Sounds) and Lieut. Mclntosh, 27 each, 5s 9d. In the Snap-shooting Match, A. Henderson, Sounds, won 10s with a score of 15. The winner of the match was W. Cox, Auckland City R.C., with a score of 21.
