CHANGE OP GOVERNMENT DEMANDED IT THE PREMIER’S ELECTORATE WintoD, Nov. 18. ■ Mr Massey addresed a crowded meeting at Winton last nighi, about 2000 people being present. The Mayor presided, and Mr Massey had an excellent reception. He accused the Government of having no policy, and at the request of the audience traversed the whole Mokau transaction. He said that the railway service was reeking with discontent, yet no attempt was made to effect an improvement. He urged the | reduco tion of taxation, and reform in the Civil Service.'

/ On the conclusion of his address Mr Massey'was accorded cheers, which were also given for Mr Hamilton, Opposition candidate for Awarua. The meeting passed, amid much acclamation, a resolution thanking Mr Massey for his address, and expressing the opinion that the time had arrived for a change of Government. ANOTHER ANTI-GOVERNMENT RESOLUTION. Timaru, Nov. 19. Mr W. F. Massey, Leader of the Opposition, addressed a meeting of from 1600 to 1700 people last night. He had a most attentive and appreciative audience, and spoke generally on the lines of his speech at Winton, with shme difference ot treat ment. He was frequently applauded, and turned the few hostile interjections to account.

A motion of thanks, proposed with the addition that a change of Government is necessary for the welfare of the country, was carried by a large show of hands. The meeting rejected the amendment for a vote of thanks only. The Deputy-Mayor presided, and the Opposition candidates for Timaru, Temuka, Wai aki, and Oamaru were on the platform. The meeting cheered Mr Massey ba his arrival, and again at the close of the meeting.
