Tom Mann ii urging the National Transport Workers and Railway men’s executive to declare a renewal ot the national fight.
A conference of Durham miners will be held on 2nd September to urge federation and to demand a minimum wage of 7s a day for coal-hewers and proportional wages for other mine* workers. Failing a satisfactory answer, a ballot will be taken on a proposal to declare a national strike. The total number of men idle on the north-east coast is two hundred thousand. ,
Despite the North-Eastern Railwaymen’s executive's instructions to re« sume work, several sections including Leeds, refused to obey until better terms were secured. They insist that all imported labour shall be banished. Later. The North-Eastern Railway strike has ended and the service is now normal. The Bristol and Avonmouth disputes have been settled.
