Marlborough Land Board.

The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands. Messrs Seymour, Redwood, Renner, and Reader. A telegram was received from the Under Secretary for Lands, instructing the Board to withdraw action re the seven acres of land at head of Okoha Bay, Pelorus Sound, for further enquiry. Also that the landing place referred to should be made an absolute reserve for that purpose.—Matter deferred pending a visit by the Commissioner and Mr Redwood to the locality. E. Wells applied for permission to occupy a small portion of the reserve at Okoha and to erect a dwelling house thereon.—Kipa Wbiro wrote objecting to this application being granted.—The matter was left in the hands of the Commissioner and Mr Redwood, who are shortly to visit the locality. In connection with W. H. Seymour's application to exchange small grazing run No. 28 to lease in perpetuity, Mr Renner moved: “ That the resolution setting apart a scenic reserve from this run be rescinded, and that Mr Seymour's application to exchange the whole run to lease in perpetuity be granted."—Carried. The Surveyor-General wrote with reference to W. H. Seymour’s application, stating that the Hon. C. H. Mills considered that a reserve of 58 acres for scenic purposes would be sufficient. Mr Kennington’s application to purchase under "The Marlborough Waste Lands Act," and the question of re-leasing balance of land now in Mr Kennington’s occupation, were considered.—Resolved to offer section 12, Block IV, Onamalutu, containing 550 acres, by auction under " The Marlborough Waste Lands Act," weighted with the value of improvements (£46 12s) as assessed by Mr McFarland, on receipt of conveyance to the Crown of a practicable road to give access to section 13, Block IV, Onamalutu ; upset price £275. It was resolved to offer section 13, Block IV, Onamalutu, and section n, Block 1, Cloudy Bay, area 1213 acres, as a pastoral run at the upset rental of £5 per annum. T. Fuller, jun., applied for 300 acres on the Wakamarina River near Dead Horse Creek.—Application approved, subject to Mining Warden’s sanction. R. P. Tapp applied to exchange the tenure of small grazing run 72 (section 10, Block 111, Link water) for a lease in perpetuity. The Ranger assessed the value of the land at 7s per acre.—Approved. The Secretary to the Pelorus Road Board wrote recommending that a suitable area of not less than 100 acres in the vicinity of Deep Creek be set apart as a stock and shearing the motion / Of Mr Reader, it was resolved that 200 acres between Deep Creek and Little Deep Creek be set apart for this purpose The Surveyor General wrote sta’ing that instead of forfeiting a section upon which improvements have been made by a Crown tenant, a summons should be issued for the recovery of rent overdue. W. Knight wrote asking permission to sell or remove a house which he erected on the foreshore st Black Point, Pelorus Sound. —Granted. Sidney Norgrove applied to transfer section 4, Block VIII, Heringa, to E. H. Strat ford.—Granted. M.
