The monthly meeting was held on Monday. There were present Messrs Seymour (Chairman), Litchfield, Fell, Chaytor, Parker, Macey, and McCallum. The Blenheim Committee wrote recommending that, if it was decided to continue the Redwoodtown side school, a pupil teacher be sent there ; Miss Wanden to be brought back to the main school. The Inspector was empowered to fill the vacancy that would be caused at Rai Valley, The appointment of Miss May Madden at Koromiko was approved, Mr Twisleton was appointed teacher at Te Awaite. Mr C. Borck, Maori Bay, wrote asking for provision for an aided school.—lt was resolved to reply that it was not the Board's practice to grant a subsidy where a school was in the close vicinity. The Onamalutu Committee were authorised to do papering work in the teacher’s residence. The appointment of Miss Palmer, teacher at Manaroa, was approved. The Manaroa School Committee were voted £5 and a supply of water-paint. The sum of £2 was voted to the Havelock Committee to make provision for expenses incurred by the expenditure of a cheque which was by mistake sent from the Board's office to Havelock instead of Havelock Suburban, and which the Board recovered by way of a stoppage of capitation. The Havelock Committee were authorised to repair the school spouting. New draft regulations for the disposition of the Board and High School scholarships were held over till next meeting. EXAMINATION.RESULTS. Mr Fell moved, according to notice, that the Board is very disappointed to find that no candidates were sent up in December for the High School scholarships from the Blenheim Boys’, Picton and Havelock Schools, and that the Committees of these schools be asked to obtain an explanation or reasons; that the Committees be informed that the Board will not allow pupils attending these schools to be deprived of their rights to compete for scholarships by the whims or incompetence of any teacher; that the Picton Committee be written to, and informed that the Board is much disappointed to find that the school again failed lamentably at the last examination, as shown in tables IV. and V. of the Inspector’s report, and also that, unless a very decided improvement is made, the. Board will consider it necessary to make a radical change. After discussion, the motion was carried. PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION. Mr McCallum gave notice of intention to move that Mr Rutherford, M.H.R., bo requested to ask the Premier if Dr McArthur, S.M., acted as assessor in the Teachers’ Appeal Court in Blenheim with his consent or with that of any of his colleagues.— Times.
