Eight Hours’ Bill.

Wellington, May 16. The Eight Hours Bill, which the ' Minister of Education intends to introduce next session, will provide for the creation of eight hours as a working day in various trades. For the purposes of the Act the Colony will be divided into districts coterminus with the present educational districts, and the various factory Inspectors will be appointed registrars in these districts, whose business will be to enrol members of each trade on ■eparate rolls. On receiving petition from say 50 workers in any trade, the Registrar must hold a poll to bring the Act into force, and should such poll be favourable eight hours will be declared legally for that pratieular taadft in that particular district.
