Land Board.
At the ordinary meeting, held on Tuesday, there were present: The Crown Lands Commissioner, and Messrs Mills and Seymour. Correspondence.—Mr W. ActonAdams wrote as to Pastoral Run No. 72, and the Commissioner said he had written to Wellington to ascertain if there were any other conditions than those contained in the license. In reply to another letter the Board resolved to recommend that the sections in the Moles worth be auctioned at the unimproved value of 15s. The application of B. Maud for a transfer of small grazing run 21 from Ellen Leach was granted. Resoived to accept a surrender from Bell Bros, of an acre on Hillersden cattle run, as a reserve for a school site. Time was granted Messrs Bittle and Neame to make necessary improvements on Section 7, Block 11, Linkwater. Mrs Newell, wife of the licensee of forfeited sections 74 and 75, Block VIII, Heringa, applied for £lB for improvements. In the absence of tidings of the original licensee the Board resolved that it could' not pay anyone else. The Spring Creek River Board wrote stating that they were willing to have that portion of Run No. 5 fronting sections 56, 60, 64 and 68 vested in them as a reserve, Resolved to have the necessary steps taken to vest.the land. Consideration of Mr R. Hutchinson's letter re his deferred payment sections was postponed. Resolved to recommend to the Land Department that the land at the mouth of the Wairau River lately occupied by Mr Chayfcor be set aside under the optional system at the cash price of 10s per acre. Application.—From F. Tetley for occupation license over .Long Island at a rental of £B, and from Rauben Takurua at £3 10s. Resolved to advertise for tenders. From B. Maud, H. Folster, and Thomas Ashton for completion of purchase of deferred payment sec-tions.—-Granted. From J. G. Trevor, transfer of pastoral license from S. J. Macalister. —Granted. From McManaway and Alexander, for transfer to A. and J. H. Hammond. —Granted. From H. M. Reader for 96 acres to be set aside on the optional system. Recommended that it be set aside as second-class land. From J. Duncan and J. H. C. and W. N. C. Bond for an exchange from' present tenures to leases in perpetuity. Resolved to recommend them. It was resolved to set aside 500 acres in Crail Bay, Orieri, cla?s land unsqiveyed. G. F. Watts' application to purchaise 1850 acres on the Erina Run under "The Marlborough Waste Lands Act, 1867," was granted subject to approval. A transfer of Run No. 82 from W. H.. Gomez to T. Philpotts was granted. Resolved to set aside a number of sections in the Wakafnarina District as second-class surveyed lands at 10s per acre, or third rental. An application by T. Conder for a reduction in rent could not be entertained, but an extension of three months in which to pay was granted. A petition from Timothy O'S'illivan and others was received, asking that their pastoral licenses be exchanged for small grazing run leases, and it was resolved to forward it to the Minister for Lands with a recommendation that it be granted. This concluded the business, and the Board adjourned.
