[By Mortgagor.] Oh, once I had a mortgage, Fuch a darling .little mortgage, :Suoh a charming little mortgage, On my farm; .And I s id that little mortgage, Is of such a short Jiunge, It will surely never do me Any harm. But when the months rolled by, And the interest day drew nigh, "When.my ready money vanished Like a charm; I found that little mortgage, Although it had a sh rt guage, . Was a kind of little drawbick To my farm. It was hungry day and night, I could never fill its kite, And the little wret h to me seemed Always due; So I-enrAed that little mortgage, And I caused its litt e sh< rt gna ge, Yes, I cursed it heartily now, Would not you ? But,my feelings I'd to smother, And beget the wretch a brother, An insatiable twin brother, To my harm; "Who helped me just two years, 'Then in spite of all my tears, Started eating me and all my Little t*tm. Bnt though my "tears did sprinkle, I did try every wrinkle, You bet I tried each wrinkle None did scorn; I'd a lien upon my wool, On my cows, and on my bull, And iny lambs'f>ut up the spout Ere they were born. But these hungry little twins, "Who we e sent me for my sins. Who were sent me for my sins, The parson said; Played up sucn fuuny rigs, "Sold my ducks, my fowls, and pigs, That I soon began to wish That I was dead. For the wretches grayed my hair, Turrowed all my face with care, forced me to pray and swear Now dash mv wigs. But it was not any use, They were bound to cook my goose, So I followed all my ducks and Morals and pig*. !Now the farm has gone from me To the present mortgagee, TVho's as happy as can be I have no doubt; He has the little farm, And his smiles are bright and .calm* JBut me and mine have now to go without. MORAL. TVhen to mortgage you're inclined, Farmers, always change your mind, 'Or you wi 1 quickly find a fate like me. Keep clear of eight per cent, Its a very heavy rent, And it fattens up The present mortgagee.
