Happy Events.

Cupid in the first instance, and Hymen in the second, appear to have devoted a good deal of attention to the young people of this district as it is rather unusual for three marriages in this small community to take place in the course 'of two weeks. We have alreadv recorded one and now we have, to announce two others, and what gives us greater pleasure in doing so is the fact of them being connected with old and much esteemed residents in the district, the bride in one case being the daughter of an old and respected resident in the Wellington district, whom we have known for many years. The first happy event took place in Wellington, when John W.,' eldest son of Mr W. Brownlee led to the altar Harriet Jane, fourth, daughter of Mr Henry Giles. The ceremony, took place at St. Paul's Cathedral, Wellington, the officiating minister being Canon Howell. After the ceremony the happy couple left on a wedding tour through the Wairarapa district, and afterwards came on to Nelson, arriving .at Blackball last evening. • The seoond. happy event took place yesterday at the residence of the bride's father, when the Bev. Mr Harker officiated at the marriage ceremony of George, third son of Mr George Pope, to Edith, fourth daughter of Mr James Twidle. We offer our hearty congratulations to both happy couples and can only hope Hymen will use a watchful, care over their, future, that they may have the blessings of a long and happy life,
