Havelock Town Board.

A meeting of the above was held on Monday evening. Present: Messrs Price, Scott, and C. H. Mills in the chair.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. . Letters were received from William Staite, solicitor, re an account due to D. Davidson. H. A. Gaskill, re erecting a stage in the Town Hall. R. Nesbitt, re forming piece of road in front of his dwelling; R. McCallum, re main road intersecting the town, Havelock, and Miss C. Mills, re rent of Town Hall. . . Proposed by Mr Price, and seconded by Mr Scott, That the letter from Mr . Staite should stand over till next meeting.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Scott, and seconded by Mr Price, That the Chairman, with any other members of the Board, attend the Pelorus Road Board at their next meeting, re making some arrangement about the upkeep of the piece of main road intersecting Havelock,— Carried.

Resolved, That the secretary inform the Town Hall Committee that the Board are willing to confer with them re the alterations to the Hail, on Tuesday, 29th hast., in the Board office, and Mr Jones prepare a rough plan to submit to the meeting.—Carried. Resolved, That the question re gorse spreading in the town stand over until the next meeting.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Scott, and seconded by Mr Price, That Mr Jones look at the place Mr Nesbitt complains about, and authorise the work, if not too expensive.—Carried. , Resolved, That the application from Miss C. Mills re remitting the rent of the Town Hall, when used for bazaar, cannot be entertained. —Carried. Resolved, That the Chairman write to A. JP. Seymour, Esq., requesting he will urge the Government to place a sufficient sum on the estimates to form the present bridle track round Cullen’s hill to Mahakipawa into a dray road, so as to connect Gullensville with other portions of the district.
