BURK and O’CONNOR.
Champion Mile P.aoc, £3O a side. A fresh match has been arranged between Burk and O’Connor, to take place, to-morrow the 16th inst., The Timaru man expresses himself us anything but satisfied with his defeat, both on account of the slowness of the time and the disadvantageous cirouinstances under which the match was run. Burk’s friends have been nothing loth to accede to hie wishes for a return matoh, and although the present champion is understood to be desirous of retiring, he has consented to meet his opponent again under the same articles, ana for a similar amount (£5O a side). Both men are anxious to have the match decided as soon as possible, ae O’Connor is, of course, sacrificing his time in Dunedin, and Burk does not wish to remain in training longer than is absolutely necessary. The match is creating as much excitement in general circles as its predecessor, and it is very probable that more money will change hands, as Burk’s supporters have naturally plucked up a considerable amount of confidence, and this will moreover be probably his last appearance in a big matoh, us it is understood lie does not again purpose going into strict training.— Otayu Daily Times.
