BENEVOLENCE V. GAIN.
(2'o the Editor of ihe jP.B. Independent.) Sir, —Knowing that the columns of your paper are always open to fair criticism, especially upon what in this case appears to be a very serious wrong done, not only to the Hospital itself, but likewise to all the general storekeepers. 1 have heard that one of the Committee, who is in business in this town, tendered, and was successful in getting his tender accepted for the present year. Is this not, Mr Editor, a very unfair way to do business, for this great Mogul can still retain his seat on the Board, and pass his own accounts at his own prices (for extras might perhaps creep in.) In other parts or the Colony cases of this sort have been treated with their deserts. Yet it is countenanced by the other members of the Committee. In fairness to the shopkeepers he should either be called upon to resign his seat,, or throw up his contract. —I am &c., Subscriber.
