DAIRYING “COMEBACK”
REVIVAL OF INTEREST NEW SHEDS IN DISTRICT MORE COWS TO BE MILKED A distinct revival of interest in dairying is apparent in the Gisborne, East Coast and Wai-roa districts, and next season many more cows are expected to be in milk.
"New herds are to be brought cu to some properties where dairying is not being carried out at present, while others milking cows intend increasing their herds.
Therefore, if the coming season provides normal conditions, it should be one of the bigges J t ever experienced in the district, and will help to make up somewhat for the greatly reduced production during the past dairying period.
Many new sheds are being built, some c:f these far the new herds and others on farms where conditions are being improved and where the farmers realise the importance of carrying on their work under the best of conditions. The sheds are being constructed on modern lines, in keeping with the most hygienic principles.
S'cme of the new sheds and also new herds -are among the Maori community on the East Coast, where further considerable development of the dairying industry is contemplated.
