INTOXICATED IN CHARGE

.MAORI MOTORIST LINED (Sltucial to the Herald.) OPOTIKI. this day. Stated by Sergeant J. Isbister to have been intoxicated while in charge of ;v motor vehicle in Main street. Opotiki. on Apnil 15, a. Maori, Brownie Komemene, appeared before Mr. E. L Walton, S.M., in the Police Court and was fined £ls.

Sergeant Isbister said that the accused had been brought to the police station by ithe traffic inspector, Mr. .1. Morrell, and had been certified as unfit to drive a motor vehicle. Komemene was drunk enough to have been charged with drunkenness. The accused was a naftive of Tokomaru Bay, but was at present living at Opotiki.

Komemene was fined £ls and was debarred from holding a driving license for 12 months. A second charge of driving a motor vehicle while not the holder of a driver's license was withdrawn.
