LICENSEE FAREWELLED

GISBORNE HOTEL STAFF PRESENTATION MADE A .staff farewell was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Burt at the Gisborne Hotel last evening on the eve of their departure for Wihakatane, where Mr. and! Mrs. Burt intend staying for the next two months. Mr. Burt has been the licensee of the Gisborne Hotel for the past few years, and during that time very'cordial relations existed between him and the staff. This was pointed' out by the head barman, Mr. E. Warren, when making a presentation on behalf of the staff of a suitcase to Mr. Burt and 1 a leather hatbox to Mrs. Burt, whoi also was asked to accept a leather travelling case for Miss Burt, who was at present in Auckland.

Mr. Warren extended from tfhe staff members their appreciation of the considerate treatment they had received from their employer, and said they wished Mr. and Mrs. Burt every success and happiness in the future.

Mr. Burt, in reply, spoke of the very happy time he had' spent as licensee of the hotel, and said that the relations between the staff and himself always had been of the best. Mr. and Mrs. Burt have arranged to leave to-night for Whakatane, where they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. C. Fleming, "Tiitoki Park," Whakatane.
