NEW TAX OPPOSED

RESISTANCE SUGGESTED PRICE FOR DAIRY PRODUCE A suggestion that the farmers should refuse to pay the social security tax : f the Government did not give them a price for their dairy produce at least equal to that recommended by the Advisory Committee last year, was advanced by Mr. R. G. Young, of Gordonton, at the annual Waikato subprovincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union held In Hamilton. A motion was carried regretting that.the Government had not given a just interpretation of the Marketing Act, and claiming that the increased costs of production must be added • '.o last season's recommendations to give bare justice to the producers. It was decided to send a telegram embodying the resolution to the New Zealand Dairy Board conference at Wellington.
