RUGBY UNION FAREWELL MR, 0. S. BURT HONOURED As a compliment to bis services to tile game of (Rugby in Gisborne, Mr. O. S. Burt was tendered a farewell by members of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union at tire close of the weekly meeting of the union last evening.

A presentation on behalf of the union was made to Mr. and Mrs. Burt by Mr, G. H. Sceats, chairman of .he management committee of the union, who extolled the services of both in the interests of the game. Mr. Burt had given five years’ service as a member of the executive of the union was a fine worker who did much for the game in an unobtrusive manner. Associated with Mrs. Burt, the departing officer had always been prominent in the entertainment of visiting teams.

Widespread regret would be felt by followers of the game at the departure Of Mr. and Mrs. Burt, said Mr. Sceats, but their name would be perpetuated in ‘Rugby circles by the Premier Cup competition, a trophy much sought after (by senior (Rugby clubs.

Other members of the union endorsed the remarks of the chairman, and botli Mr. and Mrs. Burt briefly responded, stressing the fact that anything they had done for Rugby in the district had -been a source of pleasure to them.
