RETURN TENNIS MATCH
WIN FOR BARTLETTS MATCH WITH WHALER AT A (Herard Correspondent.) On Saturday a return tennis match was played between Bartletts and Wbarerata on the Bartletts court. The weather was ideal for the match, but owing to the fading light two sets were abandoned. The result was a win for Bartletts by 12 sets to 10. The following is a resume of the games played, Bartletts players being mentioned first in eaen set:—Women’s Singles.—Mrs. Ching d. Mrs. G. McAra, 6—l: Mrs. Paliatu lost to Mrs. B. TE ARAROA WEDDING HENDERSON—HOOSCH A pretty wedding was solemnised in Te Araroa on Easter Monday, when Miss Mary Housch, daughter of Mrs. Rosie Abraham, Te Araroa, was united in the bonds of matrimony with Mr. Georke Henderson, son of the late Mr. E. H. Henderson, Te Araroa. The cex’emony was. held at the residence of the bride’s mother, the Rev. A. Folheringham officiating. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. J. N. Barbara, chose a lovely gown of pink embossed georgette cut on slender lines and finished at the neckline with pink roses. She wore a hat and shoes to tone, and carried a shower bouquet of pink roses, carnations and maidenhair fern.
Attending the bride as matron-of-honour was her sister, Mrs. H. G. King, Te Aroha, who was wearing a graceful frock of ivory satin trimmed with sprays of orange blossom. A silver coronet, with silver shoes to tone, and a bouquet of pink carnations intermingled with asparagus and maidenhair fern, completed her attractive toilette.
Little Emily Barbara,, cousin of the bride, made a dainty flower-girl in a frock of pink frilled organdie, worn with white spangled shoes. She carried a posy of mixed pink flowers and fern,
The duties of best man were capably carried out by Mr. Rangi Henderson, nephew of the bridegroom. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Le Grand tearooms, where 60 guests were entertained. The bride’s mother, Mrs. Abaham, received trie guests wearing a smart model frock of wine satin ring velvet, and a black hat. She carried a bouquet of roses, carnations and maidenhair fern.
Mrs. S. C. Brooking, sister of the bridegroom, was frocked in navy blue marocain, trimmed with a floral front and worn with a navy hat and navy shoes. Her bouquet was of shaded pink flowers. A smart frock of brown silk crepe with shoes and hat to tone were worn by Mrs W. L. King, Tokomaru Bay.
The Rev. A. Fotheringham presided at the wedding breakfast where the customary toasts were honoured. Later the bride, assisted by the bridegroom, cut and dispensed the wedding cake. The happy couple, who were the recipients of many lovely presents, which included a bedroom suite, a chiming clock and numerous cheques, left later on a honeymoon tour of the South Island. The bride received a handsome silver tea service as a gift from the bridegroom.
