DENSE FOG ON HARBOUR
BERTHING DELAYED
SHU’S AT AUCKLAND

Incoming shipping was held up several hours this morning owing to a dense fog over the' inner harbour. The Matson liner Monterey, from California, was obliged to anchor off the North Head at 6.45 a.rn. and was unable to move towards her berth for three hours. The Aorangi, from Sydney, was close behind and had to remain in the stream for a considerable time, berthing tit about 11.30 o’clock.
The Mahana, from Gladstone, Queensland, arrived early in the morning. Her berthing was delayed until later in the day. The Kopara, from Gisborne, anchored until the fog started to lift at about 10 o’clock. From early morning the air resounded with fog horns and warning bells. Early ferry boats were delayed.
