Shanghai reports stated that one ot the heaviest battles of the war between China and Japan is engaging 1,000,000 men. The battle is raging between the Kan and the.\Sui Rivers, following the fall of Nanchang. The Japanese claim that the Chinese lost 18,000 men killed and suffered 25,000 wounded. The Japanese casualties are given as 12,000 Killed and 14,000 wounded. Tokio messages state that, after fierce hand-to-hand fighting, the Japanese captured Wuning from where they are striking toward Changsha. The Chinese are said to be retreating from Fencheng along t-he-Cnekan railway to ' Linkiang,' blowing up bridges and trains in order to check the pursuit.
