STILL BELOW ESTIMATE

REVENUE IN BRITAIN YEAR NEARING END (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, March 23. The financial year ends at midnight on Friday. Up to last Saturday the total ordinary revenue amounted to £906,108,619. This was an increase of nearly £48,000.000 on a year ago, but was still £38,500,000 short of the Budget estimate. The principal source in which the revenue has fallen short of the estimates is in death duties, which so far have yielded £76,140,000, compared with the estimate of £88,000,000. The total expenditure, less selfbalancing items and sinking funds, is £917,109,922, compared with £826,408,061 a year ago. The ordinary expenditure also looks like being less than the total budgeted for and provided by the supplementary estimate, which was £951,725,000.
