A report from Toitio says that 100 members of the Japanese Diet have petitioned the Premier, Baron Hiranuma, advocating .a tri-partite military alliance against Britain and France, who are “obstructing Japan’s sacred mission.”
The British United Press correspondent at Toldo says that a Cabinet crisis is threatening as a result of a German proposal to convert the Ger-man-Italian-Japanese axis into a military alliance against the demo cratic states. Ministerial conferences are being held, the majority of the Cabinet at present being opposed to being involved in European affairs. Repulse of Drive
A Chungking message states that '.he Chinese claim to have repulsed the Japanese drive along the Lunghai railway as the result of three days ot battle north-east of Huayua.
The Chinese Government advocates an international conference of democracies in order to remove the possibilities of war and preserve peace. The Chungking correspondent of the British United Press says that Japanese bombing planes throughout the week devastated Chingehow, which has been evacuated. All foreigners are reported to be safe. A Tokio message states -that the Japanese claim the complete occupation of Nanohang.
