CONCERN EXPRESSED
WAIROA RIVER ENTRANCE BOARD ASKED TO ACT (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Concern .at the condition of the river entrance was expressed by the Mayor, .Mr, 11. L. Marker, at the monthly meeting of the Wairon Borough Council. Mr. Marker staled rthlat, in company with another councillor, he made an inspection of the river entrance and was astounded with what had happened. He expressed the view that if a strong southerly wind 1 was experienced they would soon have the river over the Jubilee tree plantation and into the old lagoon. It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Marker, that the council draw the Wairoa Harbour Board’s attention to what it considered a very unsafe entrance to the heads and that the ■board be requested to try to have the entrance opened again between the piers. » ■
