SENTENCE OF DEATH
MAN AND WOMAN PENALTY OF MURDER (Reed. March 23, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 23. Harold Percy Smith, aged 33, and Matilda Aim Edwards, aged 31, were sentenced to death in the Criminal Court yesterday on a charge of murdering William Henry Edwards. It was alleged that Smith bought poison and gave it to Mrs. Edwards, who gave it to her husband in the form of a drink.
The jury added a strong recommendation to mercy.
