SILVER COFFIN FOUND

MUMMY OF PHARAOH SOLOMON FATHER-IN-LAW (Reed. March 21, 9 a.m.). w . . ' LONDON, March'2o. The Cairo correspondent Of The Times says that Professor Montet, of Strasbourg University, discovered near Tanis (Biblical Zoan) in the delta province, the first gold coffin since the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb. It contained the first silver coffin ever found in Egypt, in which was a mummy believed to be that of King Psousennes, reputedly one of King Solomon's fathers-in-law. Two bejewelled skeletons lay beside the sarcophagus and a large vase was still unopened. Tanis was the pharaonic capital from 1700 to 1200 B.C. Professor Montet explored the empty funerary chambers of the kings of the twenty-first and twenty-second dynasties, governing the delta from 1100 to 950 B.C.
