PIGEON FLYING
MAKARAKA CLUB RACE (Herald Correspondent.) The Makaraka Racing Pigeon Club held its weekly race on Saturday from Napier, a« airline distance of 85 miles. There was a good entry of birds, and although there was a heavy side wind good times were registered. The first to clock in was an entry from D. McLean's loft, which look 2hr. 35min. Results were:— D. McLean's b.p.c. (42), 2hr. 35min. 45sec, 1. R. Evans, b.e.h. (104), 2hr. 36min. 40sec, 2. T. Crosby's b.e.h. (85), 2hr. 3Gmin. 48sec., 3. A. McDonald's b.e.h. (127), 2hr. 40 min. lOsec, 4. Other lofts to' clock in were those of the Makaraka School, T. Jonasen, B. Murray, and W. Marshall.
