REICH RAILWAYS
REBUI LDING PROG RAM M E BERLIN, March 7. An extensive programme to build railway rolling stock to equip the railways for every eventuality, lias been announced. A writer in the Frankfurter Zeilung, however, voicing the widespread dissatisfaction v/ith the railways, expresses doubt whether truck builders could deliver within a reasonable time, because manufacturers are being kept drastically short of iron and wood. * A transport report reveals that there are 10,000 fewer carriages and 4(100 fewer locomotives than in 1929, although the traffic has increased. Passenger Services have been reduced and trains are overcrowded. Most of the rolling stock is obsolete and large stretches of the permanent way are in need of replacement.
