The inspector of police, Mr. G. B. Edwards, will return to duty to-mor-row from his annual leave. Subinspector J. Dempsey, Wellington, who has been relieving in the Gisborne district, will return to-morrow to the capital.
Mr. A. C. Paine, a member of the staff of the Gisborne branch of the Government Life Insurance Company for several years, has received" notice of his transfer to the head office in Wellington. For several years Mr. Paine has represented the Gisborne Rowing Club as an oarsman, and has been an energetic treasurer and committeeman oA the club executive. Mr.. W. H. Stratton, accountant at the Gisborne branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, for the past 111 years will sever ,his connection with the company on March 31 with the intention of entering business on his own account, principally as a farm accbuntant. Mr. Stratton has been associated with the Gisborne branch of the company for 211 years.
