BOWLS

BAY OF PLENTY TITLES Overcast weather, which later brought rain and made play rather difficult, was experienced when the Bay of Plenty Bowling Centre’s executive fours and singles championships were held on the Whakatane club’s green. Bowlers from both Opotiki clubs, Whakatane, Rotorua, To Puke. Tauranga, Tauranga South and Katikati took part and the standard was good. Even the wet green and the failing light at the end of the day a fleeted it little. Bartlett, Tauranga South, with five wins and one loss, won the singles title. In section A of the executive fours Tauranga beat Opotiki Citizens and in section B Whakatane and Rotorua tied, Whakatane winning the play-ofi. The home team then defeated Tauranga in the final.
