Keith Pardon, the New South Wales hammerthrower, won that event with throws of 138 ft. 7?in., 142 ft. 9.? in„ 140 ft. ltin., 145 ft. 7in., and 14Gft. 7in. The best throw by an Australian was 144 ft. lin. by M. Rosenblum (N.S.W.), while the Victorian record was 137 ft. 11 in., which had stood to the credit of J. W. McHolm since the 1919-20 season. The Australian record was made at the last Empire Games, when Gen Sutherland, Canada, threw the hammer 163 ft. Sin. J. W. McHolm is a member of the New Zealand Police Force, and was an outstanding field event man over a long period in New Zealand.
