OBITUARY

MR. SYDNEY GORDON DOIG TOKO .MART GAY RESJ DI-AVI The death occurred at his residenci in Tokomaru Bay yesterday of Mr Sydney Gordon- Doig in his fifty seventh year. Mr. Doig, who was known to a wide circle of friends in Gisborne and tin East Coast, was a plumber by trade Born in Sydney lie came to New Zealand 35 years ago settling in Gisborne where lie remained for five years before taking up his residence in Tokomaru Bay. While he was in Gisborni he was an active member of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club. Mr. Doi: was a foundation member of Lodge Wainpu, Tokomaru Bay.

The deceased leaves a widow aru three daughters, the Misses Janet Belle and Sylvia Doig, to whom ever.' sympathy will be extended. MRS. MARTHA FLETCHER A resident of Gisborne for the pas’ 12 years, Mrs. Martha Fletcher, passer away last evening at the advanced agi af 83 years. The late Mrs. Fletcher who had been an invalid for a length' period, was .born at Rotherham, England, and was married late in life ti Mr. William Fletcher in Maseborough England. Her husband predcceasec her sho-rtlly after their arrival in New Zealand ini 1917. It is understood tha Tie deceased had no relatives in the Dominion. A pioneer of Otago, Mrs. Eleanoi Agness IMunro, aged 81, widow o' the late Mr. ,J. P. Munro, has died in Morrinsville. As a girl of 17 Mrs. Munro went to Dunedin Iron Ireland in the ship Wild Deer. An Auckland exchange reports th death at Papatoetoe of Mr. Frederick Campbell Thomas, aged 83. The so' af a Bristol surgeon, he arrived h Auckland 01 years ago and soon afterward started business as a pharmaccu tical chemist in Queen street, on a sit' opposite where the Chief Post Office now stands. Subsequently he practise' in Pukekohc, Te Awamutu. Karnnguhake, Paeroa and Birkenhead.
