FOUND DEAD IN WHARE

WAIKOHU RESIDENT MR. GEORGE F. BELL (Special to Hu! Herald.) TE KARAKA, '.this day. An old resident of the Waikohu riis trict, Mr. George Frederick Bell, wa: found dead in his whare near tin Kanakanaia bridge at 8 o'clock thi: morning. Mr. Whiti Jones, Waikohu. discovered Mr. Bell’s horse on the roaci and returned the animal to Mr. Bell’: paddock. Finding no one about thi place, Mr. Jones investigated and oi entering the hut saw Mr. Bell's body on the floor. The police and the district nurse were called and the opinion was formed that Mr. Bell brut been dead for some time. Probably hi; passing occurred on Sunday night. A light was found burning in, the room Mr. Bell, who had l reached the age of 77 years, was a native of Bellas! and had spent the greater portion of his life in tlie Dominion. He had lived for many years in- the Waikohu district, .doing contracting work. He was overseer for the Waikohu County Council during the Great War and for a period just before that.

By many old residents of the district lie will be remembered as the first owner in Te Karaka of a commercial motor lorry, which lie used in, connection with his- contracting and carrying business.

Mr. Bell was clerk of the Tc Kara'ka Town Board until two years ago, since when he had lived in retirement.

The deceased leaves a widow, three daughters and five sons, members of the family residing in different parts of the North Island.
